Brown Bag Lunch: Exploring the Method Repertoire of Transdisciplinary Research for Citizen Science

When research is meant to include non-academic actors – be it for the purpose of data collection or transdisciplinary research (TDR) – challenges arise: Which actors should we involve in which research steps? How can we develop a shared understanding of the research problem? How do we integrate the various bodies of knowledge of the people involved?

In the Brown Bag Lunch Sibylle Studer (Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences, Network for Transdisciplinary Research) introduced the td-net web portal for co-producing knowledge, providing methods and tools to meet such challenges in the context of transdisciplinary research (TDR). After a short outline of the characteristics of TDR, the overlaps between TDR and Citizen Science were discussed and participants had the opportunity to take a closer look at some tools from the td-net web portal.

The Brown Bag Lunches series has become a regular occasion to meet the research community, and a good setting to discuss and learn about the various approaches to Citizen Science and related projects and activities. The agenda includes updates on the Center, presenters from the local Citizen Science community, and international guests.
