How can we facilitate collaboration in participatory research among citizens and scientists with diverse knowledge, goals, values and working practices? How can we meet challenges in participatory settings through the art of facilitation?
This workshop provides an overview of the function, principles, basic techniques, and methods for facilitating the participatory involvement of citizens. Participants are given an initial idea of how to implement process facilitation in concrete research contexts and projects.
We will deal with the challenges in participatory settings and how to meet them. In addition to short theoretical inputs, interactive exercises and plenary discussions allow for a multi-layered engagement with facilitation. Participants' contexts of application will be integrated into the workshop and may include research projects, participatory decision-making processes and policy development and implementation.
In addition, we advise registering for the advanced module on research design which serves as a complementary module.
